It’s officially winter here, the snow came on last night and we woke up to a winter wonderland here in Prince Edward County. Waking up to a white backyard on this morning and lighting candles and playing Christmas music put me in such a great mood and definitely is getting me in the Christmas and Holiday Spirit! Make sure you check out my Ultimate Holiday Gift Guides to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list.

I’m excited to show you the first glimpse of our nearly finished kitchen renovation. We still have a short list of things to finish like open shelving, accent lights, backsplash, and choosing stools, not to mention paint and a few other odds and ends but here is the first look at our almost-finished kitchen!

Our countertops were replaced this week and the installation went much smoother, WOO!!! If you didn’t follow along, the first time our counters were installed, the island slab cracked as the installers were lifting it into place. Thankfully, this installation went much better!

Stay tuned for lots of reveals from our main floor, like the pantry and bathroom but here are some sneak peeks of the kitchen in the meantime! We will be painting every wall and room eventually but for now, primer is looking great, haha!

Questions of the week

Q: do you spend a lot of time on social media/how to do you manage your time with social media?

A: When we went to upstate New York my view on social media changed a lot. I didn’t have roaming data so I only went on social media/internet for a few minutes a day when we were at our hotel, a few days I didn’t go on at all and honestly it felt so freeing. When we got home I put timers on Instagram and TikTok, my most used apps. I put a 30 minute timer on Instagram and 45 minutes on TikTok. Now I barely ever get to the full time and it feels so good to not be constantly on social.

Q: have you tried a butter board (from the TikTok trend)?

A: nope, it’s funny how that has completely taken off. Honestly, I try and avoid trends or I put a twist on it. To me, a board slathered with butter to scoop bread up with seems a bit odd. But, I think a board with goat cheese and topped with lemon zest, pomegranate seeds, and drizzled with honey sounds delicious and perfect for the holidays.

Q: what’s one recipe I need to make from your blog?

A: this question is HARD! There are so so many recipes that I share and I truly love. Here are my top three that I think you should try:

Q: what’s your favourite holiday tradition?

A: oh, there are so many traditions that I love and I’ve also been loving the traditions that Topher and I have made over the past eight years. One of my favourites is getting and decorating our Christmas Tree. We put some Christmas Music on, pour a glass of something delicious like Oat Nog or a mocktail or a glass of wine and we take our time putting lights and ornaments on the tree. This year is the first year ever that we’ll spend Christmas morning together in our own home and I can’t wait for that!
