Happy New Year!!! Phew, I thought 2023 would never come, haha! The last two weeks have been some of the longest weeks of my life and boy, oh boy am I relieved that it’s the new year and the holiday season has come to an end! I hope you had a wonderful holiday, and even if you struggled through it, you made it to the other side and that in itself is an accomplishment.

Our Christmas was one for the books, although not a book I ever want to revisit. We had a wicked snow and wind winter storm and lost power on December 23rd and didn’t get it back until 3 pm on December 25th. Our house was hovering around 8ºC or 46ºF, pretty darn chilly and our crawl space (basement) was filled with 4 inches of water. It kind of feels like a Christmas romance novel, two people were snowed in, without power and they fell in love, haha! Anyway, I hope your holidays were filled with friends, family, good food, comfort, and warmth!

Since it’s New Year’s Day, I thought it would be fun to celebrate by recapping my favourites and best-ofs from 2022. I have to say 2022 was filled with really delicious recipes, great reads, amazing tv shows, and lots of new product discoveries that are now my holy grail, must-have products!

Questions of the week

Q: what’s your 2023 word of the year?

A: I love choosing a word to define a new year with. Mind you, ask me in September what my word was and I’ll likely have forgotten haha! Anywho, my word for 2023 is flow. Last year I felt like I had to force a lot of things, there was a lot of push and pull, and trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I hope 2023 will be a year in that I can go with the flow, allow good things to flow toward me, and feel like things are flowing freely without much force.

Q: what’s your in and out list for 2023?

A: have you seen the trend on social media, what’s in and what’s out of trend for 2023? It’s kind of a fun idea, here’s my in and out list:

in:

  • travel

  • movement

  • spontaneity

  • fun

  • learning new skills

  • prioritizing myself

out:

  • caring what others think

  • overthinking

  • mindless, endless scrolling and screen time

  • putting unnecessary pressure on myself

Q: favourite home trend for 2023?

A: I am definitely not an interior designer, I just love home decor and beautiful design. A few trends I’ve been eyeing and loving are wallpaper, especially vintage-inspired florals, and I love that colour and less minimalism is coming back.

Q: do you have any daily habits/rituals?

A:

  • drinking so much water, hydration is key

  • skincare and getting ready for the day always makes me feel so much better

  • supplements, I’ve been trying really hard to be consistent but it’s tough to remember, you know?

  • working out with my peloton app, it makes it so fun and the options are endless
